Mary Campbell Testifies in Front of House Health Quality Subcommittee

UF Master of Public Health student Mary Campbell testified in front of the House Health Quality Subcommittee last week.

Campbell is a second year Social and Behavioral Sciences student completing her internship with Planned Parenthood. She attended Lobby Days on March 19-20 with select Planned Parenthood interns and volunteers, where they attended a legislative session. Campbell and Planned Parenthood lobbied against a parental consent bill placing restrictions on minors seeking abortion.

I was able to share my thoughts and even pull data from a research paper I wrote on teen pregnancy from a maternal and child health class to back my statements.

Campbell and other Planned Parenthood members also met with senators, representatives, and their aides. They ended the weekend by attending a press conference on the Dignity Bill which grants menstrual products for incarcerated women.

One of the coolest experiences was meeting with Clovis Watson, a supporter who welcomed our ideas about increasing reproductive health advocacy.
